A Party and government delegation of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region held a meeting in Changsha on April 26 to promote the first China-Asia-Europe Expo and Xinjiang’s tourism industry. The delegation headed by Xiao Kaiti Yiming, member of the CPC Standing Committee of Xinjiang briefed the tourism resources of Xinjiang and the preparations for the expo which is scheduled to be unveiled in Urumqi in September, 2011.
This expo will open at the newly-built Xinjiang International Exhibition Center (Phase I) with an exhibition area of 90,000 square meters. The center will be divided into five display sections including Asia-Europe Section, Domestic Section, Xinjiang Section, Professional Section and Section for Hi-tech Products, Hi-tech Industrial Parks and International Cooperation.
China-Asia-Europe Economic Development and Cooperation Forum will be convened during the expo. Some state officials and foreign political leaders will be invited to the forum. Nine seminars and theme activities are also planned with seven ministerial summit forums including Agricultural Cooperation Development Forum, Information Ministerial Forum, Overseas Chinese Merchants Forum and Xinjiang Development Forum.
