“The Great Spirit of the Craftsman” themed-exhibition featuring eight types of splendid crafts of Beijing opens at the Capital Museum in Beijing, the capital of China. This exhibition opens from August 9th to November 9th. Worth mentioning, seven of the eight types of Beijing crafts on display have already been inscribed on the Chinese National Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
There are 276 sets of local crafts on display, including cloisonné enamel, jade carvings, ivory carvings, lacquerware carvings, inlaid gold lacquer, filigree and inlay, palace carpet weaving and Beijing embroidery. Crafts on display range from ancient time to Minguo era (1912-1949), showcasing the cultural development of Beijing with an almost 900 years history as the capital of China. Some contemporary master pieces are displayed as well. The exhibition brings the spirit of craftsman alive.
