Five American experts responsible for 2011 Sino-America Librarian Exchange Project arrived at Hunan University Library for an investigation tour on May 21. The delegation was headed by Professor Chen Tongli, chief librarian of the Asian Library of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Zhen Zhangfei, head of Hunan University Library briefed about library's characteristic services including the opening hours, resource sharing and online reading.
The visiting guests highly appreciated the achievements of the Library and the two sides held an in-depth discussion on the role of library in students' campus life.
Both sides agreed that, libraries should be upgraded regularly to help people pursue lifelong learning while keeping up with the pace of social development.
It was revealed that such an exchange project is the first cooperation project between the two countries' libraries initiated by the government.
