The Tujia Folk Culture Festival on the 6th day of the 6th Chinese Lunar month was unveiled in Zhangjiajie on July 21. A water-splashing dragon show pushed the festival to its climax. This dragon show was originated from the folk custom of Bai ethnic group immigrated to Zhangjiajie in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), being popular in Xiyin Village and Mojiagang Village of Yinjiaxi Town, Yongding District. Tujia, Bai and Miao people customarily hold such ceremony to pray for rain during hot-dry season.
