An exhibition of Spring Festival couplets opened on 17, January at the National Museum of China in Beijing. It will run through Feb 12, 2017. The exhibition is being held to better advocate and spread traditional Chinese culture and celebrate the upcoming Year of the Rooster.
Posting couplets on each side of the door is a tradition for celebrating Chinese New Year and expressing best wishes for fortune and good luck in the coming year. Spring Festival couplets are usually written on red papers with black ink. Chinese have always preferred the color red, as it stands for passion and good fortune.
