Labrang Monastery in Xiahe county in Northwest China's Gansu province is undergoing the largest renovation program since its establishment in 1709.
The renovation, which started in April 2013, is intended to replace stone and wooden structures within the monastery that had been worn down by the years. The Labrang Monastery remains open to the public during the renovation program. It will make an application for the listing of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites at the end of the whole renovation.
