June 7 at 8:58 am, Sichuan Airlines’ aircraft A320 left from Dunhuang Airport and landed at the same airport after 2 hours 28 minutes at 11:26am, which marks the success of the new 3,400-meter-long runway in pre-flight verification test.
Dunhuang Airport was closed from March 15 to May 25, 2017. Within a span of two months, the airport expanded to cope with the growing tourist influx. Dunhuang is a historic city which has been well known for the breathtaking Silk Road since thousands of years ago.
Next, Dunhuang Airport is to finish Terminal 2 by mid July before the opening of Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo.
