Victoria Peak, also known as The Peak by local residents, is the highest hill in Hong Kong Island, with an altitude of 554 meters. Located in the northwest of Hong Kong Island, the peak has been the landmark of HK for many years. It is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Hong Kong, as well as the most prestigious luxury housing area in the city with beautiful natural landscape.

On the top of the Peak, there is a platform where you can see overlook the attractive view of Hong Kong Island and Victoria Harbor, which is extremely beautiful, especially at night. The Lion Pavilion, The Peak Tower and the Peak Square near to the upper terminal of the Peak tram are all perfect viewing platform to enjoy the overlooks.

【The Peak Tram】
Opened in 1888, the Peak Tram is one of the oldest and most famous funicular railways in the world; since the opening of the Peak Tramway, the popularity of The Peak has continued to grow. The tram rises to 396 meters (about 1,300 feet) above sea level. It runs so steeply that the buildings you pass look like they are leaning a gradient of between 4 to 27 degrees! Riding The Peak Tram is the quickest and most scenic way to arrive at The Peak. Whether you are going up or coming down, you will love this trip.

The Tram ride alone is spectacularly breathtaking, whether you are going up or coming down. This will give you the best angle to capture exceptional video footage while you are moving to the 373 meters hill top. The tram is about 1.4 kilometers from the lower station to the upper station, which takes about 8 minutes running. At the end of this eight-minute journey you can expect to have the penultimate view of the entire Hong Kong. Getting to the Peak by the Peak Tram is an unforgettable experience.

The Peak Tram Lower Terminus is easily reachable by foot from the MTR in Central or by public transportation. If you are to take the rising Peak Tram, remember to sit on the side where you get on; if you are to take the descending tram, remember to take sit on the opposite side where you get on, so that you can have a better overlook of the Victoria Harbor.

【The Peak Tram Historical Gallery】
The Peak Tram Historical Gallery was opened in September, 2007. The gallery is like a time tunnel with more than 200 memorabilia exhibited. It is divided into 15 theme sections; they will take you back to Hong Kong in the 19th and 20th century. In addition, it showcases the works of the city’s talented artists.

【The Peak Tower】
With its iconic wok-like top, The Peak Tower is one of the most stylish architectural icons in Hong Kong. It offers a dazzling array of shops and sure to make for many happy hours of great dining with a view experience, leisurely shopping and souvenir hunting set against the beautiful backdrop of the city.

If the view is not enough for you, just pop into Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, only one of the Peak Tower attractions. Decide for yourself whether they have managed to capture your idols and other famous people believably. The Wax Museum also features Ripley’s Believe It or Not and a ride through a dark tunnel called the Rise of the Dragon.
