Shanghai Tower, the world's second tallest building, is going to hold a spectacular exhibition focusing on the theme of the world-famous Mogao Grottoes on April 28. In addition, more than 50 events related to culture, fashion, music, literature and poetry will also be held during the exhibition that will last till the end of June.
Except for the three duplicate grottoes that are of the same size as the ones in Mogao Grottoes, Gansu province, this exhibition will also display 118 precious national cultural relics, including a bronze statue named "Galloping Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow" from the East Han Dynasty (AD 25-220).
The exhibition at Shanghai Tower is co-organized by the Shanghai Tower, Gansu Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage, Dunhuang Research Academy, Gansu Provincial Museum and other institutions, which will bring an immersive experience to visitors by utilizing virtual reality and other advanced technologies.
The Mogao Grottoes are, in short, one of the greatest depositories of Buddhist art in the world, which boast some of the second to none examples ofBuddhist arts. The Grottoes are also one of the three noted ancient Buddhist sculptural sites of China, along with Longmen Grottoes and Yungang Grottoes.
