Du Jiahao, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee secretary and Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee director, met in Changsha with the Shiga Prefecture Government delegation on November 11, 2018. It was led by Governor Taizō Mikazuki and Ryuji Kawashima, chairperson of the Shiga Prefectural Assembly. Hunan provincial leaders Wu Lan, Chen Xiangqun, and Xie Jianhui also attended the meeting.
Secretary Du welcomed the delegation to attend the “35th Anniversary of Hunan-Shiga Friendship Establishment” serial celebrations in Hunan. He happily recalled his visit to the Shiga Prefecture five years ago. He said, “Since Hunan and Shiga established friendly provincial-prefectural relationship 35 years ago, exchanges and cooperation between the two sides have been continuously promoted, and the traditional friendship consolidated and developed.” He continued, “We expected both sides to take the 35th anniversary as a starting point to further deepen communication and collaboration in such fields as economy and trade, science and education, culture, environmental protection, and agricultural and rural affairs. This will help achieve mutual benefits and win-win results.” “We would strive to make due contributions to the long-term, healthy, and stable development of China-Japan relations,” he added.
Governor Taizō Mikazuki remarked that when he came here, he was always impressed by Hunan’s rapid development and great changes, especially in the areas of poverty alleviation, environmental protection, and high-tech industry development. He noted that Shiga Prefecture has attached great importance to strengthening partnership with Hunan. It is hoped that the two sides would keep seeking more cooperation opportunities to create a better future by taking the 35th anniversary as a starting point.
