On August 6, a cross-Strait youth folk music concert was held in Changsha, marking the official launching of the 17th “Huxiang Culture Tour”. CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Deputy Secretary Wu Lan, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council Long Mingbiao attended.
Ms. Wu Lan stated her pleasure at holding the 17th “Huxiang Culture Tour”, and welcomed the guests. Since inception in 2001, the “Huxiang Culture Tour” has played an important role in promoting cross-Strait cultural exchanges, deepening cross-Strait youth’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture, and enhancing the friendship between the peoples of Taiwan and Hunan. Wu Lan said, “We hope that more young people from Taiwan and Hunan, linked by culture, will make efforts to deepen cultural communication and cooperation between both sides.” “We hope that more friends from Taiwan cultural circle will participate in the ‘Huxiang Culture Tour’ to push forward the inheritance and innovation of Chinese culture and promote peaceful development of the cross-Strait relations.” Wu added.
Mr. Long Mingbiao hoped that the Taiwan and Hunan students would make good friends with each other through the music concert and the follow-up activities. Long expected young Taiwan students pay more visit to mainland China, to learn about its rapid development and experience profound Chinese culture.
At the concert, the cross-Strait youths played 15 pieces of music with traditional Chinese musical instruments. They will attend a worshipping ceremony for Emperor Yan and visit cultural attractions in Hunan, which enable them to learn about Hunan economic and social development, and culture.
