The planned Disneyland Park in Shanghai is likely to break ground in November following the closure of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, one year after the project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission.
The first phase of the project will include a theme park and supporting facilities and will span four square kilometers with the theme park covering one square kilometer. The project is expected to take five to six years to finish.
In August 2010, Shanghai Disneyland's Chinese partner, Shanghai Shendi Group Corporation, was established. The Chinese company will set up a joint venture with Walt Disney to oversee the project.
