Air China, China Eastern, China Southern Airlines and other major domestic airlines raised the fuel surcharge from October 27, 2010.
The fee on routes of more than 800 kilometers will rise to 70 yuan from 40 yuan, while routes fewer than 800 kilometers would see a fuel surcharge of 40 yuan instead of 20 yuan.
Airfares for infants have been exempted from the surcharge. Children, disabled servicemen and disabled policemen will pay surcharges of 20 yuan on routes under 800 kilometers and 40 yuan on longer ones.
The move is in accordance with National Development and Reform Commission’s decision to raise the prices of gasoline, diesel oil, and aviation fuel.
