Located at the foot of Yuhuang Mountain, China Silk Museum covers an area of 48,000 square meters. The China Silk Museum aims at displaying the great achievement of China’s silk industry and its splendid silk culture. It is the first national silk museum in China, as well as the largest silk museum in the workd.
China Silk Museum can be divided into five parts. In prelude hall, the 5,000-year history of silk and the Silk Road are introduced. The valuable cultural relics are show at the second hall. Here visitor has a chance to see the existing earliest silk textile in the world, which is unearthed in Henan Province.
Besides, the earliest silk textile along the Yangtze River area unearthed in Zhejiang Province in also on display. In the next hall of China Silk Museum, you can see how the silkworm working and the method to raise these industrious workers. If you visit right in the raising season, the sound of silkworm eating will be very impressive.
The dyeing hall is the place you can experience the techniques of silk weaving and dyeing of different ethnic groups in different era. As to the updated techniques and achievement of silk industry after the foundation of P.R.China, visitors can find out answer themselves in the last hall.
