The Eighth International Food and Tourism Festival of China opens today in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. With the theme "Chinese Cuisine, the World's Feast," the festival invites visitors from home and abroad during Sept. 28 - Oct. 8.
Visitors may enjoy numerous Chengdu's delicacies and join in interesting activities during the festival. There will be Sichuan cuisine exhibition at Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Exposition Park, the main venue of the event. Besides, parades will be held each day during the festival, and visitors can participate in various competitions and games.
In conjunction with the festival, event organizers have created a number of tour routes featuring food treats. Local restaurants and hotels will provide special discounts during the festival.
There is a Chinese saying “All good foods are found in Chengdu”. The most famous Chengdu Food include Kung Pao Chicken and Sichuan hotpot. In 2010, Chengdu was declared a “City of Gastronomy” by UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
