China Eastern on August 10th started its direct flight service on Shanghai - Jiayuguan route, marking first ever direct flight between the two cities. This new route reduces travel times between Shanghai and Jiayuguan from six hours to just three hours.
China Eastern is conducting three flights a week on the route on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Flight MU9967 takes off from Shanghai at 12:35 and arrives in Jiayuguan at 16:35. Then, it flys back from Jiayuguan at 17:25 and lands in Shanghai at 20:45.
Located in the northwestern Gansu Province, Jiayuguan marks the symbolic end of the Great Wall and the western gateway of ancient China. Jiayuguan Fort, a famous site in the city, is an essential part of Silk Road lore and most certainly worth a visit.
