A successful bullet train test run from Beijing to Shanghai reached a speed of 350km/h, departing at Beijing South Railway Station on July 18th. It took the “Fuxing” bullet train 4 hours and 10 minutes to arrive at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station.
The high-speed railwayis expected to increase from the speed of 300km/h to 350km/h around October 1st, China’s National Holiday.
Speed upgrade is bound to happen if there are no safety issues, according to Hu Siji, a professor at the School of Traffic and Transportation. He also added, "The high-speed trains are now running at 300 km/h, and there is still some room for improvement”.
